Bladder Control PDF Print E-mail
Loss of bladder control most often occurs in females after child birth resulting in leakage with cough or strain and need to wear pads for protection.  Often a course of Kegel exercises with instruction by our trained nurse therapist can improve symptoms;  if unsuccessful, outpatient surgery utilizing the newer sling technology is offered.  To distinguish stress incontinence from overactive bladder symptoms, a complete evaluation using pressure-flow urodynamic testing may be performed in the office.

Use of medications such as Ditropan, Detrol, Enablex, Sanctura and Vesicare can be helpful for controlling urgency symptoms. Neuromodulation techniques including interstim and pedal nerve stimulation may also be helpful in alleviating this symptom.
